Our client, a well-established leader in the heavy manufacturing sector, is seeking an HR / Talent Acquisition Specialist to join their team!

The Role

As an HR Generalist/Talent, you will be responsible for reporting and tracking HR Metrics, full-cycle recruitment and working jointly with the department supervisor to organize the scheduling of onboarding the new hires, in addition to assisting with the implementation of Human Resources policy training and performance management systems

You Will

  • Develop and implement targeted recruitment strategies to support headcount growth, identify key talent pipelines, and effectively screen prospective candidates.
  • Collaborate with colleges and training institutions to design and deliver comprehensive programs that equip individuals with the required skills and certifications.
  • Recruit and select qualified candidates for a range of roles across manufacturing and office environments, ensuring alignment with organizational needs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the onboarding process for new hires to ensure a smooth and effective integration.
  • Review, update, and maintain accurate job descriptions and physical demands analyses for all positions, including unionized and non-union roles.
  • Monitor the employee discipline tracker and guide appropriate next steps to support effective corrective action.
  • Oversee attendance management tracking for unionized employees and support supervisors with disciplinary processes as required.
  • Conduct employee investigations and prepare detailed reports, including recommendations for corrective action.
  • Support grievance management by advising supervisors, maintaining documentation, and drafting responses to the union.
  • Assist in the collective bargaining process through the coordination and preparation of required documentation.
  • In collaboration with the Compensation and Benefits Supervisor, support claim submissions and documentation for the STD carrier, and maintain progress reports as needed.
  • Contribute to policy development and corporate rollouts by assisting with drafting, coordinating implementation, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

You Have

  • 3+ years of experience in HR, within a unionized manufacturing environment (preferred)
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
  • Thorough knowledge of employment law, including current ESA requirements
  • Experience in ADP HRMS (an asset)

  • Practical, with a hands-on approach suited to a plant setting
