About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Sr. Cloud Engineer for our client to join the infrastructure team supporting mission-critical cloud and 5G core platforms. This senior role requires deep expertise in OpenStack and Azure ecosystems, with a focus on both operational excellence and architectural design to ensure scalable, reliable deployments for enterprise 5G networks.

The engineer will take ownership of platform management, optimization, and innovation across hybrid cloud environments, emphasizing OpenStack for core infrastructure and Azure services including AON for container and virtual machine orchestration.

Key Responsibilities

OpenStack & Core Infrastructure

• Design, deploy, and manage OpenStack environments for high-availability 5G core services, including compute, storage, and networking components.
• Optimize OpenStack configurations for performance, scalability, and resilience in production 5G deployments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve advanced OpenStack issues autonomously, implementing proactive monitoring and automation.

Azure Cloud Platforms

• Manage Azure resource allocation, provisioning, and optimization to support efficient cloud operations.
• Generate reporting and analytics using Excel and PowerBI for Azure resource utilization, performance metrics, and capacity planning.
• Monitor and report on Azure environments to enable data-driven decisions and proactive adjustments.

Kubernetes & 5G Core

• Deep understanding of High Availability (HA) architectures for Kubernetes clusters in 5G environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to allocate and provision resources in OpenStack and Azure platforms for 5G core deployments.
• Support design and validation of 5G Standalone (SA) and Non-Standalone (NSA) architectures through resource coordination and architectural input.

Operations & Agile Delivery

• Utilize Jira for agile tracking and Excel to document resource compute allocations, providing clear visibility into capacity planning.
• Leverage Excel and PowerBI for reporting and analytics, delivering actionable insights expeditiously to stakeholders.
• Act as a subject matter expert, proactively identifying risks and opportunities in cloud/5G platforms while ensuring platform reliability through self-sufficient problem-solving.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of senior-level cloud engineering experience, with extensive hands-on work in OpenStack and Azure platforms.
• Proven expertise in Kubernetes orchestration, particularly Azure AKS, and deep knowledge of 5G SA/NSA architectures.
• Proficiency in Jira, Excel, PowerBI, and Azure DevOps for agile operations and data-driven decisions.
• Fluent English communication skills for global, cross-functional teams.
• Strong ownership mindset: autonomous problem-solver, proactive, and expeditious in high-stakes environments.
• Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) in fast-paced telco/cloud projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Azure Administrator certification (AZ-104) or equivalent.
• Familiarity with additional tools like Terraform, Helm, Ansible, or advanced networking for 5G edge computing.
• Experience in regulated telco environments with focus on high-availability 5G core platforms.
