IIoT Software and Data Solutions Engineer (m/w/d)

For KNORR-BREMSE Systeme für Nutzfahrzeuge GmbH, Aldersbach plant, we are looking for an IIoT Software and Data Solutions Engineer (m/f/d) (IIoT = Industrial Internet of Things) within the "Digital Operation" department.

Responsibilities

  • Concept, project planning, and implementation of industrial IIoT software solutions in brownfield and greenfield environments
  • Integration and commissioning of standardized interfaces, especially based on MQTT and Unified Namespace (UNS)
  • Development and implementation of interfaces and edge connectors for secure and stable coupling of OT systems (machines, PLCs) with the IT and data layer
  • Design and implementation of server/client architectures as well as design of suitable hardware and network structures
  • Development of software solutions on low-code platforms as well as with classic programming languages
  • Setup, further development, and operation of data warehouse and data lake solutions for operations (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake)
  • Standardization of data models, integration patterns, and interface architectures
  • Implementation of mechanisms for data quality control, monitoring, and error handling
  • Development of dashboards and self-service analytics (e.g., Power BI) for data-based decision support
  • Concept and execution of test environments and proof-of-concepts (PoC) for validating new technologies
  • Support of specialist departments in identifying use cases and translating them into technical solution designs
  • Combination of Lean Management principles with digital methods to increase efficiency and process stability
  • Participation in troubleshooting, process optimization, and technological further development of production facilities
  • Integration and implementation of governance, cyber security, and product safety requirements according to internal and external regulations
  • Responsibility for project implementation regarding time, costs, and content

Requirements

  • Successfully completed studies in computer science, engineering, or a comparable field
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial software solutions, IIoT architectures, and MES environments
  • Very good knowledge of MQTT, Unified Namespace, Edge connectors
  • Low-code platforms
  • OT/IT integration (machines, PLCs, IT systems)
  • Process documentation in BPMN 2.0
  • Programming skills, especially in Python and C#
  • Experience with databases (e.g., MS SQL) and analytical platforms
  • Knowledge of PLC environments (e.g., Siemens, Beckhoff) is an advantage
  • Experience in project management, including budget, schedule, and governance responsibility
  • Proven experience in implementing digital transformation and IIoT projects
  • Independent, structured, and solution-oriented way of working
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills as well as a professional demeanor
  • Very good German skills (C1) and good English skills (B1-B2) in speaking and writing
