Solutions Architect
New Relic, Inc.
About the role
Your opportunity
Join our team as a Solutions Architect, a critical role focused on the technical design, deployment, and adoption of the New Relic Observability platform for our most strategic customers. You will serve as the deep technical expert, translating complex customer needs into robust, scalable, and automated Observability solutions.
In this role, you will bridge the gap between our product capabilities and the customer's modern, often cloud-native, application and infrastructure environments. You will architect solutions that leverage Platform Engineering best practices, integrating New Relic seamlessly into their CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and internal developer platforms to drive wall-to-wall observability. Your success will be measured by the depth of technical value realized and the long-term strategic adoption of the platform across customer organizations.
What you'll do
- Architect and Design: Lead the technical design and architecture of comprehensive New Relic solutions, focusing on large-scale deployment, data correlation strategies, and best practices for instrumenting microservices, serverless, and complex distributed systems.
- Platform Integration & Automation: Design and implement automated deployment and configuration solutions for New Relic using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and scripting (e.g., Python, Go, Shell). Deeply integrate Observability into customer's Platform Engineering and CI/CD workflows (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions).
- Technical Leadership: Serve as the subject matter expert on Observability concepts, APM, Infrastructure Monitoring, and Log Management. Lead technical workshops and design sessions with customer architects, engineers, and leadership to define the implementation roadmap.
- Troubleshooting and Optimization: Provide advanced technical guidance during initial deployments and optimization phases, addressing complex data ingestion, performance, and platform configuration challenges.
- Knowledge Transfer & Best Practices: Create and deliver technical documentation, blueprints, and training to enable customer Platform teams and internal Professional Services/Partner resources to confidently manage and extend the implemented solution.
This role requires
- Extensive Technical Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in a technical consulting, solutions architecture, or senior engineering role, specifically focused on cloud and application performance technologies.
- Platform Engineering Mastery: Proven, extensive experience with core Platform Engineering concepts, including building and maintaining automated, self-service infrastructure and delivery pipelines.
- Automation and DevOps Proficiency: Deep expertise in Automation, Scripting (e.g., Python), and CI/CD practices and tools. Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is highly valued.
- Observability Expertise: Exceptional knowledge and practical experience with Observability concepts (The Three Pillars) and products (New Relic, Datadog, Dynatrace, etc.) is extremely important. You can articulate the 'why' and 'how' of Observability to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Cloud Proficiency: Hands-on experience designing and deploying solutions on major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Consultative Influence: Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence senior technical stakeholders and drive consensus on complex technical architectures.
