Job Summary
You will leads a team focused on driving engineering and operational excellence within Burlington Stores, Inc. distribution network. This role prioritizes and manages projects, ensures milestones and budgets are met, and fosters innovation by refining engineered standards and integrating ergonomic principles. The Manager leverages data to provide insights that support strategic decisions aimed at improving expense control and throughput.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Industrial Engineers, providing project leadership and prioritizing initiatives.
- Ensure department milestones are met and budgets are adhered to using appropriate project management tools.
- Develop and maintain accurate engineered standards through detailed review of time and motion studies.
- Establish and maintain best practices for all job functions.
- Lead testing and rollout of new process flow and setup concepts incorporating ergonomic considerations.
- Support the design and installation of material handling equipment in existing and new distribution centers.
- Use data to cost rationalize capital expenditures and support capital projects with work sampling and cost/benefit analyses.
- Perform due diligence on projects to ensure accuracy of assumptions and develop presentations for senior management.
- Support business objectives through needs assessments, work methods analysis, recommendations, and project implementation.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and collaborate with distribution operations teams to communicate and implement best practices.
- Assist in creating labor forecasting, staffing models, incentive reporting, and other management reports.
- Partner with Distribution Center Operations leadership to develop and validate financial and operating budgets.
- Collaborate with Continuous Improvement, Transportation, Analytics, Merchandising, and other teams to support cross-functional projects.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Analytics, Math, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in process design, work measurement, productivity improvement, cost reduction, and project implementation.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and coach teams to meet performance goals and foster professional growth.
- Experience in team education, training, and facilitation of engineering principles.
- Familiarity with high-volume, fast-paced distribution center environments.
- Expertise in work measurement, standard data, predetermined time systems, and time studies.
- Experience developing and implementing management observation and accountability programs.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, interpret, and implement data-driven solutions within budget constraints.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively across various schedules to support operations.
- Willingness and ability to travel to local distribution centers as needed.
