What will you be doing?

World Wide Technology (WWT) is experiencing significant growth and currently has an opportunity available to join our Vertical Business Development organization in the role of Industry Advisor, Manufacturing & Distribution. WWT provides Digital Transformation solutions for our Manufacturing & Distribution customers that include:

  • Digital Transformation / Modernization / Industry 4.0 Strategy Consulting
  • AI & Data Analytics
  • Converged IT/OT Technology Infrastructure & Architectures
  • Industrial Cybersecurity

The Industry Advisor role is integral to the entire lifecycle of our customer engagements, from pre-sales to delivery, including:

  • Engaging key lines of business stakeholders to identify business & operational needs
  • Translating business & operational needs into technology requirements
  • Architect solution framework that aligns WWT offerings to needs of the business
  • Collaborate with WWT architects and engineers to formalize low-level solution details
  • Industry "Voice" for WWT delivery teams during project planning, solution implementation, integration and startup

We are looking for a leader in manufacturing and/or distribution operations with experience that spans Industrial Operations and Information Technology. A successful candidate will be entrepreneurial, creative and nimble, have a passion for learning, and will have experience designing technology solutions for manufacturing and distribution operations. They will have strong business acumen and communication skills -- with a proven track record of building consultative relationships with teammates and clients.

In addition to customer-facing engagements, the Industry Advisor will be instrumental in the development of new technology and service solutions that enhance the overall WWT portfolio of offerings, promote the business relevance of WWT, and align to serve the best interests of our customers.

Responsibilities

Consultative Sales Engagements & Solution Architecture

  • Assist our sales teams in the strategic identification and qualification of sales opportunities
  • Collaborate with sales to support key account planning initiatives
  • Engage customers to identify and define key business imperatives / challenges
  • Develop solution architecture that aligns appropriate technologies & services with business needs
  • Collaborate with relevant WWT science, technology and services practices to finalize the detailed solution and services required to deliver
  • Present proposed solutions, how they address customer needs, and expected outcomes

Industry Advisor to WWT Delivery Teams

  • Advise program and project management teams on development of viable execution plans that align to specific needs and nuances of manufacturing environments (i.e.: working around shutdown and maintenance windows, etc.)
  • Advise field consultants and delivery engineers where appropriate
  • Engage customer line of business stakeholders during solution delivery to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively across WWT stakeholders to promote execution excellence and foster strong, growing relationships with customers

Passion for Learning

  • Work closely with CSE (Consulting Systems Engineers) and TA's (Technical Architect's) to understand the benefits of our technical solutions
  • Learn (and teach others) how our information technology solutions address industrial / operations challenges in manufacturing and distribution.
  • Remain current on the latest OEMs (examples include Cisco, NVIDIA, Dell, Rockwell, Siemens) technologies through participation in both internal and external training
  • Remain current in understanding competitive market positioning

Industry Thought Leadership

  • Serve as a brand evangelist and thought leader
  • Remain current on the rapidly changing Manufacturing business landscape
  • Actively participate in select Industry Trade Shows
  • Provide ongoing internal sales training and education for industry-relevant WWT solutions
  • Remain current on the manufacturing & distribution regulatory, operations and business landscape

Solution Portfolio Development

  • Identify trending needs with our clients and within the industry
  • Engage established, emerging and potential OEM partners to identify relevant technology solutions
  • Engage WWT science, technology and services practices to evaluate and develop new offerings

Qualifications

  • Based in the Toronto, Ontario area
  • 7+ years technology leadership experience:
    • Leading / Operating / Supporting manufacturing and/or distribution environments
    • Developing information technology solutions and applying to industrial operations
  • Experience in process manufacturing industries is a plus (i.e.: pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, food & beverage, etc.)
  • Ability to work through uncertainty and incomplete data sets
  • Ability to extract and synthesize relevant information from various sources and provide insights to internal and external customers based on those sources
  • Ability to work independently yet collaborate well with teams across the organization
  • Experience in data analysis, financial analysis, process design, and general system knowledge
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (written, verbal, presentation)
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Ability to travel up to 20-50% -- generally planned, but occasionally on short notice

Salary

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $204,000.00 to $239,000.00 Canadian dollar annually. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base pay.
