Sennheiser electronic SE & Co. KG
About the role
About Sennheiser
Sound made by Sennheiser - For more than 80 years, we have been among the world's leading manufacturers of audio products and are shaping the future of the audio industry. We are proud of our sophisticated microphones and audio solutions that connect people and create exceptional sound experiences - whether in the studio, in the conference room, or on stage.
For us, the audio industry is one of the most exciting to work in. In our global family company, you can expect not only a unique team where we trust, value, and support each other, but also the opportunity to make your own significant contribution to our shared progress.
Your Role
We are looking for an experienced specialist in DECT technology to strengthen our R&D team as a key technical role. In this position, you will actively shape the technological foundations of our future product portfolio – from the initial architectural idea through conceptual development to system implementation. You will work closely with a strong, interdisciplinary team and contribute your expertise to realize high-performance, robust, and future-oriented wireless solutions. If you enjoy shaping standards, solving technical challenges, and driving innovation, you are in the right place with us.
Responsibilities
- You will independently develop architecture and design concepts for wireless transmission methods and digital signal processing algorithms based on the DECT-NR+ transmission standard.
- You will conduct analyses, simulations, and measurements (e.g., performance, robustness, timing, interference, coverage) to derive system requirements, evaluate architectural options, and identify optimization potential.
- You will actively work on the DECT-NR+ stack (PHY/MAC) – including implementation, optimization, and troubleshooting in the embedded environment.
- You will plan and manage defined functional blocks and take responsibility for scheduling, technical coordination, risk management, and tracking work packages in interdisciplinary teams.
- You will conduct or moderate technical reviews, architecture workshops, design discussions, and decision-making processes with relevant internal stakeholders.
- You will contribute to international standardization bodies and funding projects by bringing in technical requirements and actively participating in discussions and review processes.
- You will mentor and transfer knowledge to junior and professional engineers, strengthening team-wide expertise in wireless technologies and the DECT-NR+ standard.
- You will create technical documentation (architectures, concepts, specifications, interfaces, test concepts) in close collaboration with purchasing, test/qualification, production, service, project management, and systems engineering.
- You will identify innovation potential and contribute to the technological roadmap – focusing on strategic reuse of architectural building blocks, guidelines, and development and integration methodologies.
Qualifications
- You have successfully completed a degree (Master/Diploma) in telecommunications engineering, communication technology, computer science, electrical engineering, or a similar technical field. Alternatively, you have a relevant technical education and many years of professional experience in wireless systems, signal processing, or embedded stack development.
- Additional qualifications or further training in modern mobile/radio systems or system architecture are desirable.
- You have sound knowledge and practical experience in DECT-NR+ (PHY/MAC) – ideally including implementation and optimization on embedded systems.
- You possess a deep understanding of wireless transmission methods and digital signal processing, particularly in areas such as channel coding, time/frequency synchronization, and robustness mechanisms.
- You have experience in embedded stack development (C/C++) and confidently use Python and/or MATLAB for analysis, simulation, and prototyping.
- It is advantageous if you have already gained experience in integrating baseband algorithms and signal processing into hardware (e.g., DSPs, FPGAs, SoCs).
- You ideally have experience or active participation in standardization bodies and can confidently handle standards, specifications, and requirements.
- You are motivated to work with open-source stacks and contribute to open development models (e.g., collaborative development, community contributions).
