Your Role

Play a key role in modernizing a major industrial plant.

We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer who will have a tangible influence on the technical direction of a major industrial site, leveraging their rigor, judgment, and depth of expertise.

In a complex and constantly evolving industrial environment, this person will tangibly contribute to the modernization and standardization of the plant's electrical installations. Driven by several major investments, the role is at the heart of the site's technical challenges.

Reporting to the Electrical Manager

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership in the analysis, improvement, and evolution of the plant's electrical installations.
  • Act as a resource person and technical reference for maintenance, operations, automation, and mechanical teams.
  • Contribute to the standardization of practices, methods, equipment, and technical approaches to ensure greater consistency, robustness, and sustainability of installations.
  • Support teams in resolving complex technical issues related to industrial electrical systems.
  • Participate in defining technical directions for new installations, equipment replacements, system modernization, and optimization of existing assets.
  • Formulate engineering recommendations based on best practices, applicable standards, and the site's operational realities.
  • Apply expertise in low and medium voltage environments and industrial electrical distribution.
  • Contribute to the reliability, safety, performance, and continuous improvement of the plant's electrical systems.
  • Support investment and modernization initiatives by providing strong technical expertise in evaluating and selecting preferred solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
  • Over 7 years of relevant experience in an industrial setting, ideally in heavy industry.
  • Excellent knowledge of industrial electrical systems.
  • Significant experience in medium voltage, electrical distribution, reliability, and installation modernization.
  • Good knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
  • Knowledge of specialized tools such as ETAP, SKM, or equivalent is an asset.
  • Experience in metallurgy or electrolysis halls is a significant asset.
