About the role

About Parrot

Founded in 1994 by Henri Seydoux, Parrot is the European leader in professional drones. Located in the heart of Paris, our R&D brings together a multicultural team of engineers, where every voice counts in reinventing the future of drones.

Your Role

As part of the development of our future products, we are looking for an Aerodynamics Engineer to lead the design of optimal aerodynamic architectures. Your objective will be to maximize the flight range while respecting strict constraints of compactness and hovering efficiency. You will be involved in the entire design cycle: from concept exploration to experimental validation, with a high level of autonomy and impact.

In the Design for Performance unit of the Industrial Design department, you will be a technical reference in aerodynamics and guarantee the flight performance of the drone by leading the aerodynamic architecture.

Your Missions:

To contribute to the development of our next generation of innovative drones, you will be responsible for:

Exploration and Design:

  • Identify and develop innovative aerodynamic solutions to maximize the flight endurance of micro-drones.
  • Develop the aerodynamic validation plan and support the integration of your design into an industrial environment.

Prototyping and Validation:

  • Create CAD models using Solidworks2025.
  • Collaborate with the CFD specialist engineer for aerodynamic sizing and calculations.
  • Supervise the manufacturing and assemble prototypes autonomously.
  • Test in a wind tunnel and then in real conditions (open space).
  • Perform data acquisition, analysis, and measurement processing to evaluate performance (consumption, drag, lift, stability).
  • Compare experimental results with numerical simulations to improve designs.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with mechanical teams to optimize mass and ensure the industrialization of your design.
  • Meet performance, quality, and deadline objectives.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Design for Performances unit to propose solutions compatible with the product's vibration, structural, and thermal constraints.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Systematically archive test results and organize them for other teams.
  • Periodically communicate performance and range evolutions.

Your Profile:

  • Graduated from an engineering school or holding a PhD in aeronautics/aerodynamics, you have a minimum of 5 years of experience, ideally in the aeronautics field or drone design.
  • Expertise in fluid mechanics and aerodynamics, as well as proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks, Fusion 360, or other) are required for this position.
  • You are comfortable with prototyping, developing, and executing test protocols.
  • You have experience in Python programming for data analysis and task automation.
  • You have knowledge of CFD methods (CAD, meshing, calculation) and solid mechanics.
  • You master Matlab and C++ for advanced simulations.
  • You are rigorous, methodical, and have a pragmatic approach.
  • You are creative and passionate about new technologies and innovation, particularly in the drone field.
  • You are autonomous with a great capacity for adaptation and a strong team spirit.
  • Proficiency in English (bilingual imperative) is necessary for this role (regular written and oral exchanges).

What We Offer:

  • Integration into the heart of a team of enthusiasts.
  • Technical projects matching your ambitions.
  • Responsibilities for everyone, the opportunity for all to have an impact in their work, whether you are a recent graduate or an experienced professional.
  • A technophile and multicultural atmosphere.
  • A company culture genuinely guided by the principles of inclusion, equity, and diversity.
  • A unique work environment in the heart of Paris.
  • A high-performing and adapted social framework (including hybrid remote work).
