About the role

Introduction

Our client, a well-established and reputable accounting practice based in Hillcrest, is looking to appoint an Intermediate Accountant to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong individual who wants hands‑on exposure across the full accounting cycle, with direct client interaction and a clear path toward Senior Accountant level.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage full monthly accounting function across a portfolio of clients
  • Prepare and review management accounts accurately and on time
  • Perform bank, cashbook, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Process journals and maintain general ledger integrity
  • Handle statutory submissions (VAT, PAYE, etc.) and related reconciliations
  • Process client payrolls and ensure compliance
  • Assist with and/or prepare Annual Financial Statements (AFS) using Draftworx
  • Maintain strong client relationships and respond to queries timeously
  • Identify discrepancies and escalate financial risks where necessary
  • Assist with year‑end files and audit preparation

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Matric (Grade 12) – essential
  • Relevant Accounting qualification
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience, ideally within an accounting firm / practice environment
  • Strong experience on Pastel Accounting
  • Exposure to Xero (advantageous)
  • Experience with Draftworx and/or Caseware (highly advantageous)
  • Strong Excel and overall computer literacy

Package & Remuneration

  • R18 000 – R22 500 CTC per month
  • Higher salary potential for candidates with AFS drafting capability and relevant qualifications (AGA(SA) or similar)
  • Office‑based role in Hillcrest
  • Working hours: 08h00 – 16h00
