Intermediate Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst - Cape Town - up to R480 per hour

A data-driven organisation specialising in Analytics services and solutions is seeking an analytical and commercially minded Intermediate BI Analyst to join a growing data team. This role goes beyond traditional project-based analysis, requiring close collaboration with business stakeholders to manage frequent ad hoc requests and translate data into clear, actionable insights.

The role requires strong SQL expertise, solid Power BI reporting skills, and the ability to interrogate complex datasets to answer real business questions. A strong mathematical foundation and problem-solving mindset will be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities:

• Engage directly with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and analytical questions • Analyse large and complex datasets using SQL to provide clear, data-driven answers • Develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports • Respond to ad hoc data queries with accuracy and speed • Translate business problems into structured analytical approaches • Work with data warehouse structures to source, transform, and validate data • Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity in reporting outputs • Support ongoing optimisation of reporting processes and data models • Contribute to continuous improvement of the BI environment

Qualifications & Experience:

• 3-5 years' experience in a BI Analyst or Data Analyst role • Strong SQL skills (query optimisation, joins, aggregations, complex data interrogation) • Solid experience building reports and dashboards in Power BI • Experience working with data warehouses and structured data models • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities • Ability to manage multiple ad hoc requests in a fast-paced environment • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
