Role Overview

We are looking for a DevOps/SecOps Engineer to design, secure and scale our infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring high availability, strong isolation of sensitive workloads, and implementing modern security practices across our stack. As such, you will need to be proactive, autonomous and able to withstand responsibilities. This role sits at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and cybersecurity, with a strong emphasis on operational resilience.

• Cloud:
  • AWS (core infrastructure, compute, networking, SSO)
  • Cloudflare (DNS, CDN, WAF)
• Version Control & CI/CD:
  • GitLab + GitLab CI
  • GitHub (open-source Python library) + GitHub Actions
• Elements of self-hosted infrastructure

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & DevOps

• Design, deploy, and maintain AWS infrastructure (VPC, IAM, EC2, networking, security groups)
• Manage and scale self-hosted services
• Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines
• Improve observability (logging, monitoring, alerting)

Security & Compliance

• Define and enforce security best practices across infrastructure and pipelines
• Implement data compartmentalization strategies (network isolation, SSO, Policy, secrets management)
• Design and deploy secure access systems (VPN, Windows, …)
• Lead incident response planning and define emergency procedures
• Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments (cloud environment, web applications)
• Implement least privilege access in cloud and user systems

Identity & Access Management

• Manage Windows fleet integration (domain joining, policies, access control)
• Implement least privilege access across systems (AWS, internal services)

Networking & Access Control

• Architect and deploy a private VPN infrastructure
• Work with Cloudflare
• Ensure secure communication between services and environments

Collaboration & Culture

• Work closely with researchers and engineers to enable secure development workflows
• Promote DevSecOps culture across the company
• Document infrastructure, processes, and incident response procedures

Required Skills & Experience

Core

• Strong experience with AWS (IAM, VPC, EC2, security best practices)
• Solid understanding of network security and system hardening
• Experience with CI/CD systems (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
• Experience managing Linux-based infrastructure in production
• Familiarity with Windows environments and system administration basics
• Deployment tooling (Kubernetes, Docker, Helm)

Security

• Experience with:
  • Identity & access management (IAM, RBAC)
  • Secrets management
  • Network segmentation
• Knowledge of security frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2, or similar) is a plus
• Experience designing incident response plans

Nice to Have

• Experience with Active Directory deployment and management
• Experience setting up VPNs
• Familiarity with Cloudflare
• Background in high-security or regulated environments
