Job Description
THE OPPORTUNITY
As an Intern - Embedded Software and Systems Engineer, you will report to the Senior Engineering Director of our Irvine Engineering team. This role offers you the chance to learn and contribute to embedded software development, debugging, and testing for our advanced MIMO MANET radios tailored for various applications.
This internship is fully onsite in our vibrant Irvine office near the Irvine Spectrum, Monday through Friday.
ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Engage in embedded firmware development, implementation, testing, and debugging for Silvus StreamCaster radios.
- Develop firmware testing environments and scripts.
- Gain hands‑on experience and advance your skills as projects evolve.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or a preferable graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical fields.
- Capable of working independently after receiving instructions/feedback, taking initiative, and effectively engaging with cross‑functional teams and clients.
- Proficiency in PC office applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear interaction with customers and team members.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen due to client requirements under U.S. government contracts.
- Employment contingent upon successful background check and drug testing.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Experience with AMD/Xilinx FPGAs and ARM processor cores.
- Familiarity with wireless communications and networking protocols.
- Understanding of communication systems and signal processing algorithms such as channel estimation and beamforming.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Indoor air‑conditioned environment.
- Occasional outdoor fieldwork.
- Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs. for setup and testing.
- Active movement within the lab.
Compensation
- CA Pay Range: $28.60 – $33.80 / hourly [for in‑progress Bachelor's degree]
- CA Pay Range: $42.00 / hourly [for in‑progress graduate degree]
Basic Requirements
