The primary purpose of this role is to establish, develop, and implement international sales and marketing channels for high‑protein pet treats manufactured from ostrich meat, with venison meat as a potential secondary product line. The role requires a commercially minded individual capable of translating market research into practical, profitable, and executable strategies, and personally driving implementation to achieve measurable results. Key Responsibilities Market Identification and Analysis Identify and evaluate potential international markets for ostrich-based pet treats using existing market research, industry data, and independent analysis. Analyse market trends, consumer preferences, competitor products, pricing structures, and distribution channels within targeted regions. Continuously assess new and emerging opportunities within the global pet food and specialty protein markets. Product Positioning and Portfolio Development Recommend optimal positioning strategies for existing and potential CKI product lines derived from ostrich meat. Evaluate opportunities for product extensions, reformulations, or complementary offerings aligned with market demand. Align product concepts with the company's available raw materials, production capacity, equipment, and operational constraints. Marketing and Sales Strategy Development Develop and present a comprehensive international marketing and sales strategy that is commercially viable and operationally practical. Translate market insights into actionable go-to-market plans, including channel selection, pricing strategy, and route-to-market recommendations. Ensure alignment between strategic objectives and execution capability. Implementation and Execution Identify product lines and target markets with the highest probability of short-term commercial success. Personally lead and implement agreed plans within priority markets. Balance immediate revenue opportunities with longer-term market development initiatives. Long-Term Market Development Identify product lines and market segments requiring longer lead times to achieve sustainable success. Develop phased market entry and growth strategies for these segments. Proactively explore opportunities beyond existing company offerings and conventional market approaches. Financial and Commercial Management Develop pricing models that reflect production costs, margin requirements, and market price tolerance. Conduct financial analyses to ensure products are competitively priced while remaining profitable. Prepare financial projections and sensitivity analyses where required. Internal Collaboration Work collaboratively with production, operations, finance, and management teams to ensure organisational alignment and buy-in. Communicate clearly and effectively to support decision-making and execution. Foster strong working relationships to support cross-functional success. The Candidate
Language: Fluent (speak / write / read) in both Afrikaans and English Required Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s or higher degree (Marketing / Commercial Management / Finance / Supply Chain Management) or similar Diploma. MBA / MBL will be an added advantage. Minimum of 5–10 years’ experience in a niche product or industry marketing and sales environment. Proven experience in international marketing and/or sales, preferably within the pet food, pet treats, meat, or protein-based food industries. Demonstrated ability to analyse complex market data and convert insights into executable commercial strategies. Strong commercial and financial acumen, including pricing and margin analysis. High level of computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Excel. Key Competencies and Skills Strategic and analytical thinking with strong attention to commercial detail. Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with organisational goals. Practical problem-solving skills with a strong implementation focus.
