Investment Accountant

Must

• Has been an investment accountant in current role
• Comes from investment accounting in insurance or financial services
• BA / BS in (ideally: business, finance, or accounting, math, econ, etc.)
• Strong experience with asset classes in investment accounting
• Strong investment reporting experience
• Understanding of the operational aspects – custody banks, data involved on ratings/pricing,
• Worked with products in accounting like: bonds, stocks, securities are.
• An eye for automation and technology
• Solid excel experience
• Experience with financial modeling

Plus

• Insurance stat experience
• MBA/CPA/CFA preferred
• Clearwater platform experience

Day to Day

Our client, which is a fast growing insurance start up in Durham, NC is seeking an Investment Accountant to join the team as a full time employee. This person will be part of our investment accounting team and focus on providing accounting/financial reporting support for their investment portfolio. This person should be highly motivated and have good knowledge of the financial services or insurance industry. You will report to the Director of Investment Accounting and work a hybrid role in Durham. On a daily basis this person could work on pricing, work on data flows between our software (Clearwater) and our asset manager, and could get involved in our financial reporting processes as well. This person will help reconcile clearwater against banking records every month, complete quarterly investment schedules for financial reporting, will review/implement new accounting guidance, and lastly this person will onboard new asset classes/portfolios.
