Responsibilities
The Healthcare Investment Banking Group is seeking a PhD-level professional to support its senior life sciences and biopharma team. This individual will play a key role in evaluating new opportunities and supporting a broad range of transaction and advisory activities across the biotechnology sector.
- Evaluate new investment banking opportunities within life sciences and biotechnology
- Contribute to positioning, messaging, and value proposition discussions for clients
- Develop and maintain pitch materials for business development initiatives
- Assess M&A opportunities on behalf of clients, including strategic and financial analysis
- Support drafting and due diligence throughout the IPO process, including S‑1 preparation
- Accompany senior managing directors to client meetings, pitches, and drafting sessions
- Develop a deep understanding of client pipeline candidates, underlying science, clinical data, and competitive landscapes
- Conduct industry, company, and product research across various therapeutic areas in biotechnology
- Translate complex scientific concepts into clear, concise insights for a mixed technical and non‑technical audience
Qualifications
Educational Qualifications:
- PhD degree in a biological or life sciences–related field from an accredited college or university
Additional Qualifications:
- Strong grasp of complex scientific concepts relevant to the biotechnology sector
- General knowledge of life sciences and biopharma industry trends
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present scientific information clearly
- Willingness to work closely with senior bankers in a fast‑paced, client‑driven environment
- Currently living in, or willing to relocate to, New York
Salary
$125,000 – $175,000
The actual base salary will be determined on an individualized basis considering a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, and, where applicable, licenses or certifications held. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package (including health, vision, and dental insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan), this position may be eligible for additional types of compensation including discretionary bonuses and other short- and long-term incentives (e.g., deferred cash, equity, etc.).
