About the role
Job Overview:
The Infrastructure Engineer will work closely with the VP of IT to design, implement, and support infrastructure across on premises Windows Servers and Google Workspace. The organization is transitioning from on premises to cloud based management. This role includes oversight of endpoint management using Jamf and Intune and is responsible for ensuring systems and processes operate with strong performance, reliability, and security.
Responsibilities:
- On-Premises Equipment Management: Oversee the design, implementation, configuration, and maintenance of on-premises infrastructure systems leveraging Dell hardware, Windows OS, VMware, Active Directory, and wired and wireless Aruba switching. Ensure that these systems are operating at peak performance, securely and reliably.
- Cloud Services Management: Administer and manage cloud services, such as Google Workspace, Jamf, Intune, Arcserve backup, Meraki, Aruba Central, Zendesk ticketing system, etc., including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Implement best practices to optimize the performance and security of cloud services.
- System Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor the performance and availability of systems and services, proactively identify and resolve any issues or incidents, and provide timely and effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure that all infrastructure systems and services are compliant with relevant security policies, standards, and regulations. Implement security measures to protect data and systems from potential threats.
- Infrastructure Design and Documentation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions that meet business requirements. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system architecture, configuration, and operational procedures.
- Change Management: Follow established change management processes for implementing changes to internal systems. Coordinate with other teams to plan and execute changes with minimal impact on the production environment.
- Capacity Planning and Performance Optimization: Monitor resource utilization and plan for future capacity needs. Identify opportunities for performance optimization and implement necessary improvements.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies related to infrastructure engineering. Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and optimization to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of infrastructure operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or Business Administration, or equivalent training and experience required.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in a related technical role with progressive responsibilities required
- Strong experience in managing on-premises infrastructure systems, including Windows Servers, VMware, Active Directory, and Aruba switching.
- Hands-on experience managing Google Workspace for mail exchange, file storage services and auditing and investigation tools.
- In-depth knowledge of networking concepts and protocols, including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
- Familiarity with security best practices and compliance requirements, such as GDPR, PII and PCI-DSS.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Experience with PowerShell commands and scripting for task automation and configuration management.
- Proficiency as an escalation point to address complex hardware and software issues that range from end-users to enterprise products.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant certifications, such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Microsoft 365 Endpoint Administrator Associate and Aruba Certified Mobility Professional (ACMP), are highly desirable.
