Expert Select GmbH is seeking an IT Security Engineer (m/f/d) to structurally develop information security and consistently minimize operational risks. This position combines strategic conception with technical implementation and is aimed at professionals who not only plan security architectures but also anchor them sustainably. As an IT Security Engineer (m/f/d), you will significantly contribute to securing systems, data, and processes against internal and external threats.
Responsibilities
- Analyze existing IT structures and identify security-relevant vulnerabilities.
- Develop viable protective measures and oversee their implementation in close coordination with internal departments.
- Assess networks, applications, and interfaces for potential security gaps.
- Conceive security policies and ensure their binding implementation.
- Monitor security-relevant events and initiate appropriate countermeasures.
- Accompany penetration tests and evaluate the results in a structured manner.
- Support specialist departments with security-related questions in day-to-day business.
- Document incidents comprehensibly and develop preventive measures.
- Participate in the further development of emergency and restart concepts.
- Keep an eye on regulatory requirements and ensure that internal processes permanently comply with them.
- Act as a competent point of contact for technical security issues and promote a well-thought-out security awareness within the company.
- Work in the interface between technical depth and organizational coordination.
- Collaborate closely with the IT department, external service providers, and, if necessary, management to realistically implement security goals.
- Analyze current reports from monitoring systems and assess potential risks.
- Coordinate with colleagues on ongoing projects and review new requirements for their security implications.
- Ensure that security measures remain practical and are supported by all stakeholders through regular coordination.
- Document developments comprehensibly to ensure transparency and traceability at all times.
Requirements
- Completed degree in Computer Science, IT Security, or a comparable qualification.
- Alternatively, a sound technical education with relevant professional experience in the security environment.
- Practical experience in network and system security.
- Knowledge of common security standards and their application.
- Experience with firewalls, SIEM systems, or endpoint protection solutions.
- Structured and solution-oriented analysis of complex issues.
- Careful and comprehensible documentation.
- Clear and target-group-oriented communication.
- Ability to remain calm in critical situations.
- Responsible conduct and a strong awareness of confidentiality.
- Understanding of security work as a continuous process and willingness to critically question existing concepts.
