Job Description
Reporting to the IT Manager, the successful candidate will work a 7 day on/7 day off rotation at the Lac des Iles mine site.
Responsibilities
- Supports and maintains end user computers and peripherals which include installing, diagnosing, maintaining, and upgrading/replacing hardware. Primary support will be for LDI while providing secondary support for remote offices.
- The person will troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide customer enabling for a standard suite of products (Windows 10, MS Office, Citrix, 4site, Avanti).
- Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of network issues, and recommend and implement corrective repairs and solutions, including third party support as needed.
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created and stored properly.
- Operation and maintenance of CCTV, phone and TV systems
- Collaborate to actively seek opportunities to leverage industry solutions for business issues
- Work with third party vendors to develop and implement solutions; ensure that end results are in accordance with company product standards and guidelines
- Excellent time management skills; capable to deliver results on time for the tasks assigned
- Has a good understanding of business requirements and the ability to translate them into IT solutions
- Perform other duties as assigned by the IT Manager
Qualifications
- Engineering, Computer Science or computer related undergraduate degree/diploma combined with equivalent work experience (minimum 2+ years of experience in system administration role)
- Must have good knowledge of IT methodology in hardware, software and networking. Advanced knowledge of Windows and Active Directory would be an asset.
- Network administration including assigning trustee rights, creating user accounts and login scripts, setting up TCP/IP protocols (DHCP, DNS, Gateway)
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to demonstrate initiative, good judgment and effective decision-making;
- Superior knowledge of required desktop, server and mobile technologies (browsers, operating systems)
- Experience with the implementation of remote based applications (RDP, Citrix)
- Experience with virtualized environments (VMWare) including data management and server deployment
- Experience with various network topology and secure communications (Firewalls, VLANS, VPN connectivity, DMZ and remote app access).
- The ability to work in various locations both indoors and outdoors.
- A safety mindset is a must for this industrial setting
