IT System Engineer - Azure, VMware, PowerShell (m/f/d)

Role:

In this role, as an experienced professional for Microsoft Windows System Administration, you will shape a stable, secure, and high-performance system environment that demanding users can rely on at all times. You will be responsible for the planning, configuration, and continuous optimization of Windows system landscapes, including their standardization and automation. You will analyze, monitor, and resolve issues, ensure smooth operation, and maintain high availability of business-critical applications. You will also contribute your expertise to projects, design sustainable solutions, and implement technical advancements in a structured manner. As a senior professional, you will act as the central point of contact for complex issues, share your knowledge with colleagues, and thus significantly contribute to the professional further development of the system environment.

Responsibilities:

• You will design, implement, and operate modern Windows-based platforms and continuously develop them.
• In this role, you will ensure stable, secure, and high-performance operation throughout the entire lifecycle together with the team.
• You will drive the standardization, automation, and hardening of system environments, particularly using scripting and Infrastructure as Code.
• As a Microsoft Windows System Administration professional, you will take technical responsibility for design, build, patch and release management, capacity, performance, and availability.
• You will perform in-depth analysis of issues, conduct root cause analyses, and derive sustainable improvement measures.
• In this role, you will work as a technical lead or specialist in cross-functional projects and advise internal teams on infrastructure, architecture, security, and operations.

Qualifications:

• Completed IT education (EFZ/HF/FH) or equivalent, several years of professional experience as a Windows System Engineer.
• In-depth experience in the Microsoft ecosystem (Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server & Clients, MS SQL, Active Directory/Entra ID, Exchange Online/Hybrid, Teams/VoIP).
• Practical experience in virtualization with VMware (vSphere/ESXi/vCenter) as well as in backup, restore, and storage solutions (e.g., Veeam), including monitoring and logging.
• Good knowledge of network technologies and IT security fundamentals (LAN/WLAN, Cisco, 802.1x, hardening, identity & access concepts).
• Strong automation and scripting skills with PowerShell, ideally with Git-based workflow and CI/CD-related methods; experience with Ansible is an advantage.
• Structured, self-reliant, and service-oriented way of working, confident communication, very good German, and ideally user knowledge of the Atlassian Cloud Suite.
