Java Consultant

Overview

We are partnering with a leading investment bank seeking a skilled Java Consultant to support the development and enhancement of critical trading, risk, and financial systems. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and business, requiring strong technical expertise and the ability to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java and related technologies
• Collaborate with front office, risk, and operations teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Build and optimize low-latency, high-throughput systems for trading and financial workflows
• Contribute to system architecture, design patterns, and best practices
• Integrate with APIs, market data feeds, and third-party financial platforms
• Troubleshoot production issues and ensure system reliability and performance
• Participate in code reviews and promote high-quality engineering standards

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Java (8+) development
• Strong experience with Spring / Spring Boot and RESTful APIs
• Solid understanding of data structures, multithreading, and concurrency
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) or on-prem enterprise systems
• Experience working in financial services or capital markets environments
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure setting
