Job Description
As a Software Engineer, you will support the development and maintenance of globally scaled applications that help keep the aviation industry moving. You will work on mission-critical messaging platforms supporting 1,500+ aviation customers and processing 75+ million messages per day across the global aviation community. These systems are essential to reliable airline operations and global passenger movement. You will be part of a collaborative engineering team focused on building resilient, high-performance software with real-world impact.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance critical features within proprietary, enterprise-scale Java applications
- Support refactoring and modernization of applications to newer versions of OpenJDK
- Contribute to DevSecOps pipelines, supporting automated builds and testing within CI/CD environments
- Work closely with Technical Leads, Architects, and Software Engineers to deliver scalable solutions
- Participate across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including design, development, testing, deployment, and support
- Support high-availability, high-throughput messaging systems operating at global scale
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience
- OR Master's degree with 1+ year of relevant experience
- OR 7+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Experience developing Java enterprise applications
- Experience with Messaging tools (i.e., JMS, MQ Series, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, etc.)
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Strong documentation and technical writing skills

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Annapolis, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
