About
This role is critical in supporting the deployment and support of the PIDS components for station signage for new PIDS and O&M support for legacy vendors.
Resource constraints were identified for PIDS O&M hardware and software onsite skilled personnel which has become problematic and overwhelming for the associated capital projects and back-end support to keep the signage operating and accurate.

Responsibilities
- Support the deployment and support of the PIDS components for station signage for new PIDS and O&M support for legacy vendors.
- Perform troubleshooting for software and related hardware components for PIDS (Passenger Information Display System).
- Identify errors or deficiencies in the hardware and software components.
Requirements
- Business Management, Systems Engineering, or other related field or 10-15 years of relevant work experience required to satisfy education/experience requirements.
- Broad knowledge of multiple computer environments, platforms, and technologies.
- Strong understanding of how backend systems (OS, APP, DB, Network) work.
- Experience defining and documenting business process maps, business/functional requirements, use cases, user stories, technical specifications, test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test results.
- Broad knowledge of a variety of collaboration, requirements, testing, and support methodologies.
- Solid knowledge of Agile methodologies (SAFeAgile) and techniques.
- Ability to create and document Amtrak’s Project Life Cycle Management (PLM) artifacts and key process steps.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office 365 including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project, and Visio.
- Skills with tool sets including Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, and Service Now.
- Proficiency in Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, (Angular or React), and Node.js
- Development experience with Spring/SpringBoot and RESTful APIs
- Experience with distributed messaging and streaming platforms, including Kafka or RabbitMQ
- General cloud platform experience (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Skilled in version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Solid understanding of data structures and design patterns
- Experience in frontend, backend, and cloud-native development
- Understanding of information systems and application architectures
- Deep knowledge of Linux Operating Systems, automation with scripting
- Experience of protocols (DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, SNMP), firewalls (iptables, firewalld), and network configuration.
- Deep knowledge of PIDS technology and Amtrak Stations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the capability to present confidently to project teams.
- Strong interpersonal and team-building skills, work well with others in an integrated team environment and must be self-motivated.
