Mechanical Engineer

A leading engineering consultancy in Upington, Northern Cape is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join its project delivery team. You will design, analyse, and oversee implementation of complex engineering solutions for infrastructure and industrial projects, manage schedules, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure deliverables meet all requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review engineering drawings, bills of quantities, technical reports, and contract documentation to high accuracy.
• Develop detailed engineering designs, calculations, simulations, and technical specifications for civil, mechanical, electrical, or process systems.
• Ensure all engineering work complies with relevant standards, codes of practice, health and safety regulations, and environmental legislation.
• Manage engineering projects from feasibility through detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are clearly communicated.

Requirements

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to apply engineering first principles to complex technical challenges.
• A minimum of five to eight years of postgraduate engineering experience with demonstrable project achievements in the relevant sector.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills to produce clear technical reports and present to varied audiences.
• Proficiency in engineering design and analysis software relevant to the discipline such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, or MATLAB.
• Strong understanding of engineering standards, codes of practice, and regulatory requirements applicable in South Africa.
• Strong project management skills including scheduling, cost estimation, and contract administration.
• Professional registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng, or candidate registration actively working towards professional registration.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Engineering
