About
We are hiring two Summer Student Marketing Coordinators to join the team at the Transitions Thrift Store.
These positions are ideal for youth interested in communications, social media, retail, fundraising, community engagement, and nonprofit work. Students will support the operations of the Thrift Store while helping develop creative ideas to increase community engagement and store sales in support of IWAV’s anti-violence programs.
All proceeds from the Transitions Thrift Store support IWAV programs and services on Salt Spring Island and the Southern Gulf Islands.
Responsibilities
- Processing, sorting, and displaying donated merchandise
- Assisting with social media and promotions
- Greeting and assisting customers
- Supporting cash and sales transactions
- Maintaining a clean and welcoming store environment
- Sharing information about IWAV services with the public
- Participating in staff meetings and training
- Helping develop community engagement and fundraising initiatives such as themed promotions, events, or online auctions
We’re Looking For Students Who Are:
- Friendly and comfortable working with the public
- Organized and dependable
- Interested in marketing, social media, or community work
- Comfortable working as part of a team
- Excited to learn in a nonprofit retail environment
These positions are funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program.
Applicants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of employment
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee status in Canada
Position Dates
- Position 1: June 16 – August 15, 2026
- Position 2: June 30 – August 29, 2026
