About
Our client requires the services of a precise and analytical Junior Accountant to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial records, ensuring full compliance with South African regulatory standards, and providing critical support for management reporting. This role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in a high-pressure environment and possesses the technical expertise to handle complex reconciliations and statutory requirements.
POSITION: Contract role for 12 months (possible renewal).
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Management Accounts: Assist with the preparation of Management Accounts and the Month-End close process. Support reporting on P&L, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow (including Floorplan Recons), and Monthly Aging Analysis.
- Compliance & Taxation: Ensure strict adherence to IFRS and SARS regulations. Assist with Provisional Tax returns, VAT calculations, and the submission of EMP201 and EMP501.
- Reconciliations & Ledger Management: Perform daily bank, supplier, and account reconciliations. Process journal entries and manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
- Inventory & Specialized Accounting: Assist with cycle counts and annual stock takes. Record stock transactions and perform warranty/service dealer payout reconciliations.
- Audit Preparation: Support the annual audit process by preparing documentation and responding to audit-related queries.
- Payroll Support: Understand and assist with payroll payment processing and supplier payments.
- Process Improvement: Support the implementation and enhancement of internal financial controls and budgeting processes.
Minimum Requirements
- Qualification: BCom Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is essential. (Candidates with a National Diploma and significant experience may be considered).
- Professional Affiliation: Membership or progress toward a professional body (e.g., SAICA, SAIPA, or ACCA) is an advantage.
- Experience: Minimum 1 3 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Accounting Principles (IFRS/GAAP) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Logistics: Must be able to work onsite in Sandton daily for the duration of the contract.
