About the role

Position Overview

The Aerospace Corporation is the trusted partner to the nation’s space programs. As part of the Information Systems and Cyber Division, you will serve as a Junior Cybersecurity Engineer—contributing to the design, implementation, assessment, and deployment of cyber solutions that defend our nation's most valuable assets in space. This full‑time position is based in Chantilly, Va and offers a hybrid work model with 3‑4 regular onsite days combined with remote flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform research in the areas of cyber and network security.

• Contribute to the development of security prototypes.

• Identify security vulnerabilities in software and hardware platforms and recommend mitigations.

• Participate in projects covering vulnerability assessment, cyber security architecture, prototype/capability development, system trade‑off studies, and validation of network system requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM (Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field).

• At least one year of relevant cybersecurity work experience (for Associate Member) or 2+ years (for Member) with proficiency in one or more programming languages.

• Proficient in Linux and Unix‑based operating systems.

• Experience with both offensive and defensive cyber security tools, tactics, techniques, and procedures.

• Proven ability to perform vulnerability assessments and implement effective mitigation strategies.

• Knowledge of network engineering and architecture (TCP/IP, IPSEC, HTTP/S, routing protocols).

• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

• Willingness to travel occasionally (approximately 10%).

Preferred Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance.

• Experience with space systems, including familiarity with space, ground, and user segments as well as legacy software.

• Expertise in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), Kubernetes, Docker, and related security practices.

• Experience with Agile methodologies and team collaboration tools.

• Familiarity with ICS/SCADA systems.
