Job Description
Are you an aspiring cybersecurity professional eager to launch your career with one of Canada’s leading financial institutions? RBC is looking for a Junior Cybersecurity Threat Analyst to join our remote night shift team. This is an incredible opportunity for individuals with little to no prior experience in cybersecurity to gain hands-on training and contribute to critical security operations. You will be instrumental in monitoring, detecting, and escalating potential security threats, working within a supportive environment that prioritizes learning and development. This role is 100% remote, offering flexibility and the chance to work from the comfort of your home, while making a significant impact on our global security posture.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security systems and tools for suspicious activities and potential threats during night shifts.
- Analyze security alerts, logs, and events to identify and prioritize legitimate security incidents.
- Escalate critical security incidents to senior analysts or incident response teams following established protocols.
- Document all findings, actions taken, and incident details accurately and comprehensively.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of security monitoring processes and procedures.
- Participate in training and professional development to enhance cybersecurity knowledge and skills.
- Collaborate effectively with team members in a remote environment.
Required Skills
- Strong interest and passion for cybersecurity and technology.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic understanding of computer networks and operating systems (Windows/Linux).

- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team during night shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrolled in or recent graduate of a cybersecurity, computer science, or related technical program.
- Familiarity with security information and event management (SIEM) tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar).
- Basic understanding of security concepts such as malware, phishing, and denial-of-service.
- Prior experience with IT support or help desk roles.
- Certifications like CompTIA Security+ or Google Cybersecurity Certificate.
