About Us

Startupticker.ch is the information platform for the Swiss startup scene. In addition to daily news on the web portal, we publish the Swiss Venture Capital Report and the Swiss Startup Radar. Both have established themselves as reference publications due to their quality and neutrality and are used by authorities, media, and economic development agencies. The JNB Journalistenbüro from Lucerne is behind the web portal and the publications.

We are looking for a student to assist with our data-driven publications on the Swiss startup scene.

Your Tasks

• Analyses on the performance of the Swiss startup scene based on our own database and data from global databases for international comparison
• Preparation of results for the Swiss Venture Capital Report, the Swiss Startup Radar, traditional media and partners of Startupticker
• Maintenance and updating of the internal database, as well as integration of new data points from own research and web scraping
• Research of new data points for the expansion of the internal database
• Writing background articles on the Swiss startup ecosystem (English/German)

Who You Are

• You are currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree and have initial experience with quantitative economic, political science, or social science analyses, or can demonstrate statistical prior knowledge.
• Data is mostly shared and prepared in Excel spreadsheets. Excel skills such as matching, filtering, cleaning datasets, and preparing them for publication are an important prerequisite for the work.
• We use Python for data processing and have created some scripts and functions. Therefore, basic knowledge of Python or possibly R is required.
