Junior Data Engineer – Ai (Hospitality Group) - Rosebank

Hospitality Group based in Rosebank is looking for a Junior Data Engineer – AI. The group is building an AI-powered business intelligence system that monitors their restaurants; retail stores; and production kitchen in real time. It runs on dedicated NVIDIA AI hardware and uses Python; SQL; and large language models to detect problems before they cost money. The suitable candidate will work directly with the CEO as the first technical hire.

Responsibilities

• Write Python and SQL
• Validate data accuracy
• Help build AI-assisted workflows

Requirements

• Honours degree in CS, IS, Data Science, or equivalent; OR 1–2 years relevant experience
• Python — can write scripts, work with APIs, debug existing code
• SQL — comfortable with JOINs, aggregations, and investigating data mismatches
• Comfortable in a Linux terminal (SSH, bash, running scripts)
• Strong attention to detail — your core job is finding where numbers don't match and why
• Experience with any ERP system (Acumatica, SAP, Sage, or similar)
• PostgreSQL; Docker, or Streamlit experience
• Exposure to AI/LLM tools (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.)
• Hospitality or retail background will be an advantage
