About the role
Your future role on our team
BBA is seeking a candidate for the engineering profession (CEP) in structural engineering to strengthen its multidisciplinary team in Labrador. Working closely with our offices in Sept-Îles, Montréal and Mont-Saint-Hilaire, you’ll help develop the Labrador region and deliver a wide range of projects in the mining and metals and energy sectors. You’ll benefit from BBA’s network of recognized experts who’ll support you in carrying out mandates and in your professional development. You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved at project sites and client work sites, including performing site surveys, providing technical support to clients and helping commission new equipment and systems. You’ll work in a major centre (e.g., Montréal or Mont-Saint-Hilaire) for the first six months, and then in Labrador City for two years. Afterward, you can continue your career in Labrador City or at another BBA office.
Responsibilities
- Help prepare engineering documents to design structures for mining and heavy industry projects
- Design concrete and steel foundations and structures
- Coordinate design activities with other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, etc.)
- Prepare estimates, technical specifications and reports
- Help plan, organize and assess work
- Maintain strong, positive relationships with colleagues, clients and their representatives
- Help prepare estimates, schedules and budgets, where necessary
- Perform structural inspections on site
- Help oversee work at client sites
- Perform other technical functions to support project delivery

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or any relevant equivalent training and experience
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
- Four years of experience, or less, in steel and/or concrete design of structures
- Advanced knowledge of structural analysis software
- Knowledge of how to read drawings
- Knowledge of site supervision
- Moderate knowledge of the MS Office suite
- Available to travel frequently to client sites and offices
- Advanced English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients
- Advanced French skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in Québec
- Asset: experience with dynamic structural analysis
- Asset: experience in finite element calculations
- Asset: general health and safety card issued by ASP Construction
