About the role
Position Overview
Headwaters Health Care Centre is seeking a Junior Financial Analyst (JFA) to support the organization’s strategic direction by ensuring accurate, timely financial information and analysis. The JFA will assist with monthly and year‑end processes, provide financial and statistical reconciliations, forecasting, and insights to support business decisions and future projects.
Position Responsibilities
- Prepare and post month‑end financial and statistical journal entries
- Review and reconcile accounts
- Investigate account discrepancies and process appropriate corrections
- Assist in preparing financial statements and cash flow projections
- Liaise with the third‑party A/P team for processing and payment of expenditures
- Manually invoice and track receivable balances
- Prepare and post year‑end journal entries
- Prepare audit working papers
- Assist Senior Financial Analyst in developing operating and statistical budgets
- Provide financial planning and analysis support for the assigned portfolio
- Assist with preparation of operating budget reports and forecasts
- Assist with the annual capital call process and related reporting
- Prepare month‑end entries for the Foundation and assist with its audit and monthly reports
- Analyze program statistics and trends against budget and KPIs
- Develop, control, and maintain new financial management reports, forms, worksheets, statistics, and forecasts
- Develop new procedures and improve existing ones
- Collaborate with the finance team on special projects
- Ensure data completeness and accuracy in compliance with hospital policies and accounting standards
- Contribute to a transparent culture of patient and staff safety in accordance with HHCC policies
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Post‑secondary education in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) or CPA candidate preferred
- 1–3 years of financial analysis, interpretation of results, and reporting experience
- Experience in a healthcare setting is an asset
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Accounting Standards for not‑for‑profit organizations and public sector accounting standards
- Ability to work independently, balance multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
- Effective communication skills at multiple organizational levels
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills, and ability to develop in‑depth analysis
- Proficiency in Excel and adaptability to new software applications
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
