About the Role

At Zepz, our engineers are passionate about delivering a solid customer experience and are eager to contribute to the product, regardless of their tech stack. We are seeking engaged and customer-focused engineers who are committed to writing quality code and dedicated to their contributions at Zepz. We value individuals who are adaptable to a wide range of problems and challenges and can collaborate across teams to drive improvements.

As a Mobile Engineer, you will work within cross-functional feature teams, part of broader engineering domains. Uniquely, you will bridge the gap between our native Android/iOS architectures. You will have the autonomy to provide insights to the team and help shape how these technologies coexist. You’ll be committing, reviewing, and shipping new code from your very first week!

What You Bring to the Table

• Native Foundations: Experience building mobile applications with proficiency in Kotlin (Android) and Swift (iOS).
• Modern UI Frameworks: Strong understanding of declarative UI patterns, specifically SwiftUI for iOS and Jetpack Compose for Android.
• Cross-Platform Skills: Practical experience developing and maintaining mobile applications using the React Native framework.
• Platform Expertise: Understanding of Apple’s Design Principles and Human Interface Guidelines, alongside modern Android architectural patterns like MVVM.

Core Skill Set

We are looking for a versatile engineer proficient in the following areas:

• Mobile Frameworks: Proficiency in Swift/SwiftUI, Kotlin
• iOS Ecosystem: Experience with Core Data, Core Animation, and performance tuning using tools like Instruments.
• Data & Networking: Familiarity with RESTful APIs, offline storage, threading, and cloud messaging/push notifications.
• Version Control & DevOps: Proficiency with Git and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for mobile deployment.
• Optimization: A knack for benchmarking, memory tuning, and performance optimization across platforms.

Technical Execution

• Quality First: You take pride in writing readable, well-designed, and well-tested software across native and React Native codebases.
• Code Maintenance: You will help improve code structure and ensure SOLID principles are applied to all layers of the mobile stack.
• Peer Review: You will actively participate in code reviews, ensuring quality and learning from the wider engineering team.
• System Health: You’ll assist in monitoring, debugging, and maintaining the health of your team’s systems, ensuring high performance on different devices.

Collaboration & Customer Obsession

• Team Integration: You’ll build relationships with other engineering teams and work effectively within a cross-functional environment.
• Effective Communication: You can communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical team members, translating feedback into functional code.
