Responsibilities

  • Implement, troubleshoot, and sustain hybrid environments for the Missile Defense Space Enterprise Architecture.
  • Work with a team that manages the full lifecycle of a secure, air-gapped on-premises infrastructure, with ownership from the physical hardware (compute and storage) up through the hypervisor layer.
  • Administration, lifecycle management, and security hardening of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.0 appliance suite.
  • Work with a team that will design and implement secure, scalable cloud architectures (VCF 9.0, AWS GovCloud, Azure for US Government) for enterprise workloads.
  • Implement, and sustain Container Platforms such as VKS (Kubernetes v1.35), Docker, and Podman as well as maintain Repositories/Registries.
  • Work with system engineers to identify and define requirements for new systems/system modifications, developing designs, and implementing and testing solutions.
  • Conduct daily system monitoring, system backup and restoral, and application upgrades to ensure optimal and continuous system operations.
  • Be responsible for ensuring system software installations, maintenance, break/fix activities, and cyber security mitigations are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements.
  • Carrying out high-level activities associated with design and system architecture.
  • Be able to quickly learn challenging concepts, decompose difficult service problems and provide resolution.
  • Effectively function as self-starter and identify risks, issues, and opportunities to leadership.
  • Have excellent presentation, oral and written skills to facilitate effective and efficient interchanges with senior customer management and customers.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Basic Requirements

  • Must have 2, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience which may be reduced with completion of advanced education
  • Must have 1, or more, years of direct IT experience
  • Must be familiar with, or have experience with, Cloud engineering experience
  • Must have experience with enterprise hardware stack (HPE Synergy, HPE Nimble, NetApp ONTAP, etc.)
  • Must be familiar with Kubernetes and containerization
  • Must have hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform
  • Must have an Understanding of networking, storage, identity, and DevSecOps pipelines
  • Must meet DoD 8570 certification requirements (e.g. Sec+) within 60 days of hire
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
  • Have experience working within the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) or other Department of Defense (DoD) organizations.
  • Have experience with continuous delivery tools (VCFA Blueprints, GitLab, ArgoCD, etc.)
  • Have experience with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, HELM, Bash, etc.)
  • Have experience designing hybrid and multi-cloud solutions
  • Be able to logically decompose complex mission systems into manageable components.
  • Have a track record of effectively troubleshooting and applying critical thinking skills to resolve IT system dependencies, impacts, and sustainability challenges.
  • Have experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or Federal cloud initiatives
  • Have experience working in an agile environment
  • Have experience administering a Red Hat Linux environment (RHEL 9.x)

Compensation

This position is expected to pay $70,000 – $110,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
