About the role

About

ECS is seeking a highly motivated Junior Project Manager to support a portfolio of dynamic initiatives for a Department of Defense (DoD) customer, including AI/ML innovation, Gen AI and Large Language Model (LLM) integration, and strategic cloud efforts. This position is ideal for an early‑career professional ready to step into a project management role, who is technically curious, organized, and eager to grow in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment supporting cutting‑edge technologies.

You will work closely with Project Managers, Technical Leads, government customers, and engineering teams to help plan, coordinate, and execute a range of evolving special projects. This is a hybrid role, with onsite work expected in Fairfax and Springfield, VA (3+ days/week), with flexibility based on program needs.

The successful candidate will work closely with government customers, commercial vendors, and traditional federal contractors to shape and execute technical priorities. You'll work with interdisciplinary teams, balance competing priorities, and ensure mission success through sound project planning, stakeholder management, and adaptive problem‑solving.

  • Track project progress, risks, dependencies, and metrics using tools such as JIRA or similar systems
  • Work with cross‑functional teams (engineering, cloud, AI/ML, and stakeholders) to ensure alignment and timely delivery
  • Help identify and escalate risks and blockers, and support resolution efforts
  • Contribute to project documentation, including status reports, briefings, and technical documentation
  • Support customer engagement efforts to understand requirements and evolving priorities
  • Assist with cloud onboarding, data platform coordination, and solution adoption efforts

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially in translating complex technical ideas to non‑technical stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
  • Self‑starter with strong attention to detail and follow‑through
  • Experience working in or supporting DoD customers
  • Must have CompTIA Security+ credential or obtain it within the first 90 days of employment
