About

We are seeking a Junior Security Analyst (SOC Level 1) to join our cybersecurity operations team supporting federal clients. In this entry-level role, you will monitor network traffic, investigate security alerts, and help maintain the security posture of systems operating in cloud and hybrid environments. You will work under the guidance of senior analysts in a federal compliance environment, building hands-on skills across monitoring, incident response, access management, and security reporting. This is a remote-eligible position, though occasional on-site support may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor security alerts, SIEM dashboards, and network traffic for suspicious or anomalous activity
  • Validate and triage alerts, investigate potential breaches, and escalate verified threats to senior analysts with clear, timely documentation
  • Prepare security metric reports and document incident response actions
  • Audit user access, enforce least-privilege policies, and support compliance activities
  • Install, update, configure, and maintain firewalls, encryption tools, and endpoint protection systems
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities
  • Support security assessments and audits as directed by senior leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and hands-on experience
  • 03 years of professional experience in IT or cybersecurity
  • Solid understanding of network protocols, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and cybersecurity fundamentals
  • Experience or training with security tools such as Wireshark, Nessus, Splunk, or comparable SIEM and vulnerability management platforms
  • Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and recognizing patterns in data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • CompTIA Security+ certification strongly preferred; candidates without it should be able to obtain certification within 6 months of hire
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a government background investigation suitability determination

Additional Information

  • Familiarity with federal cybersecurity compliance frameworks is a plus
  • Experience with cloud security concepts is a plus
  • Prior experience in a federal IT environment is a plus

This is a full-time W2 employee position. We do not accept 1099 contract arrangements or applications submitted through third-party recruiting agencies. This role is contingent upon contract funding and the exercise of option periods. Compensation is commensurate with experience, skills, education, and certifications.
