Job Description

As a Junior Backend Developer, you will work on the technical backend of applications. You will help build functionalities, process data, set up logical software structures, and improve existing code. You will learn how backend systems are built and why certain choices are smart or not. You will deal with questions such as: how do you structure code clearly, how do you ensure that different parts of an application work well together, and how do you create software that not only works today but is also maintainable a year from now. Object-oriented programming plays an important role in this. You will learn to work with classes, objects, structure, reusability, and clear responsibilities within code.

You don't work in isolation. You will coordinate with other developers and possibly with colleagues from, for example, frontend, testing, or functional management. It is precisely in this collaboration that you learn what software development looks like in practice. Initially, you will receive guidance and clear frameworks, but as you grow, you will gain more ownership of your work.

Must-haves

• A completed HBO or WO diploma in a relevant field, such as Informatics, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Game Development, or equivalent
• Demonstrable interest in programming and software development
• Basic knowledge of object-oriented programming
• Analytical thinking skills and a structured way of working
• The motivation to further develop yourself as a backend developer

Preferred

• Experience with an object-oriented programming language such as Java, C#, or Python
• Familiarity with relational databases or SQL
• Knowledge of APIs or backend connections
• Experience with Git or other version control tools
• Internship, part-time job, or personal project within software development
