Kaye Personnel has an immediate opening for a Junior Staff Accountant for an established Cigar Retailer located in Philadelphia, PA.
We are seeking an efficient and highly detail-oriented Junior Staff Accountant who will be expected to maintain, prepare, and reconcile accounts and other financial records. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a broad understanding of Basic Accounting practices, highly organized, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize simultaneous assignments with minimal oversight.
Note: Qualified candidates must be comfortable with Cigar smoke.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30AM - 5PM
Responsibilities
- Prepare and record journal entries.
- Process and reconcile retail store sales and cash receipts, prepare bank deposits, and maintain cash sheets.
- Settle and record daily credit card and/or Paypal transactions on cash sheets, maintain deposit spreadsheets, and settle all disputes.
- Reconcile cash general ledger accounts and cash sheets to bank statements.
- Prepare and reconcile various state and local tobacco tax filings.
- Prepare and reconcile various state sales and use tax filings.
- Reconcile various balance sheet accounts by compiling and balancing financial information.
- Assist with reviewing of expense reports and disburse payments, as assigned.
- Assist with coordination and preparation of materials for financial audits.
- Monthly closing duties, account analysis, and special projects, as assigned.
- Analyze business or financial data.
- Maintain accounting files and databases.
- Effectively prioritize responsibilities.
- Provide support to other members of accounting staff.
- Assist with mid-year and year-end physical inventories.
- Perform other related duties or projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Required Skills
- 1-2 years of accounting experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- Firm grasp of basic and intermediate accounting principles
- Comfortable handling and storing confidential financial information
- Ability to compile professional and thorough accounting reports
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining financial records and following company guidelines and procedures
- Ability to analyze and solve problems
- Strong capacity for time & task management
- Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills
- Proficient computer literacy with familiarity utilizing databases and navigating
