Junior Structural Engineer

Introduction

Junior Structural Engineer:

A well-established structural engineering consultancy is seeking to appoint a Junior to Mid-Level Structural Engineer to join its team based in Somerset West. The firm delivers a broad range of structural engineering services across diverse projects, offering a collaborative environment that supports professional growth while providing exposure to projects from concept through to completion.

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced engineers on design, detailing, and site inspections, while also being given the opportunity to take ownership of aspects of projects. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytical engineer with strong problem-solving ability, commercial awareness, and effective communication skills, who thrives in both team-based and autonomous working environments.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in structural design and detailing of various structures (Steel, Concrete, Masonry and Timber).

• Create technical drawings and project specifications.

• Liaise with professionals such as architects, specialist engineers, clients and contractors.

• Perform site inspections of structural elements.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• National Diploma or Bachelors degree in civil engineering.

• Experience with AutoCAD, or similar computer-aided design software.

• Experience with BIM (building information modelling) software, such as Revit and Prokon is a plus.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
