Our client, a prestigious automotive manufacturer known for its innovation and quality, is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Automotive Systems Engineer to join their advanced engineering division in Kimberley, Northern Cape, ZA. Responsibilities

  • Lead the system-level design, development, and integration of critical automotive subsystems (e.g., powertrain, chassis, ADAS, infotainment).
  • Define system architecture, requirements, and specifications based on market needs and future technology roadmaps.
  • Oversee the validation and verification of system performance, ensuring adherence to safety, regulatory, and performance standards.
  • Manage and mentor a team of systems engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software development teams to ensure seamless integration of components and functionalities.
  • Develop and maintain system-level test plans, procedures, and reports.

  • Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and project status updates for senior management.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in automotive systems engineering, with a significant focus on system integration and architecture.
  • Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex development projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
  • Expertise in functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and cybersecurity principles in automotive applications.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, powertrain control, ADAS technologies, or infotainment systems.
  • Proficiency in system modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, SysML).
  • Experience with requirement management tools (e.g., DOORS).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in a global R&D environment is highly desirable.
