Lead Backend AI Engineer – 12‑month contract, remote role (direct customer).

Roles and Responsibilities

• Experience coordinating with offshore teams.
• Collaborate with product teams to gather requirements, work with engineering teams to design solutions, break down work into clear, actionable tasks, and drive end‑to‑end delivery of projects.
• Demonstrate strong architectural thinking and clearly articulate system designs, trade‑offs, and technical decisions to large technical audiences.
• Critical thinking: ask clarifying questions and provide solutions to problems presented by the interviewer.
• Communication: communicate concisely, stay on topic, and answer interview questions effectively.
• Non‑functional aspects: share experience and answer questions about scaling, monitoring and operations, load and performance testing, code quality, and maintenance (using AI for self‑productivity is a significant plus).
• Exposure to large distributed systems projects: implement large distributed systems, work in sizable teams, and collaborate with cross‑functional team members to execute projects.
• Extensive experience in distributed systems: design microservice architectures, build microservices using REST APIs, and use distributed messaging systems like Kafka or similar.
• Logical thinking & problem solving: solve medium‑complexity coding problems (LeetCode medium level).
• Demonstrate flexibility to provide sufficient overlap with the onsite team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Basic awareness of LLMs and the Generative AI space.
• Python proficiency; basic training in Python programming is a definite plus.
• Training and exposure to Generative AI and Agentic AI is a definite plus.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

Compensation

• Salary range: $100‑120 k per annum (or Corp‑Corp rates; contact recruiter).
