SmartPredictions “The Firm” is a startup tech company based in New York City. Smart Predictions' official business purpose is to operate the world's first finance focused prediction market, enabling users to trade on the outcomes of future events.
Users buy and sell shares in specific real-world event outcomes, with resulting prices representing the market's collective probability assessment. This leverages the "wisdom of the crowd"—the concept that prediction markets often provide more accurate forecasts than traditional expert analysis by financially incentivizing accurate information aggregation.
In essence, Smart Predictions' is a decentralized marketplace for real-money forecasting on financial events, combining trading infrastructure with information services to generate market-based predictions.
Role Profile and Key Responsibilities: • This individual will join a small growing team of high performers with a proven record of executing on The Firm's strategy. • The Firm is looking for a backend engineer to help build and scale the core exchange infrastructure that powers our markets. Skills and Experience Required:
Liquidity Pool Powered Exchange: • 3–7+ years of professional backend development experience, with strong proficiency in C/C++ (preferred) or another systems language (Go, Rust, Java). • For smart contract: Solidity for Ethereum & EVM chains (Polygon, BSC, Avalanche). Other tools/libraries include: web3.js or ethers.js - Connect frontend to Ethereum blockchain • Hardhat or Truffle - Smart contract development & testing (Ethereum) • Anchor - For Solana development • GraphQL/REST APIs - For backend data queries • Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, concurrency, memory management, and experience building low-latency, high-throughput systems. • Comfortable working on complex systems end-to-end, debugging production issues on Linux and taking responsibility for correctness and performance. • (Plus) Experience in trading systems, HFT, gaming, telecom, or other latency-sensitive domains
Web and App Product Design: • Programming languages: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (React, Next.js, Angular, etc.), Python, Java, C#. • Platforms for hosting and deployment: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Firebase, and various web servers like Apache and NGINX. • Tools for design and prototyping: Figma is a popular choice for collaborative interface design
