Role Summary

As a Lead Backup Solutions Engineer, you will architect, modernize, and maintain enterprise backup and recovery solutions while focusing on automation and process improvement. This role requires extensive expertise in backup technologies and the ability to manage and refine an existing Python codebase, fostering innovation and efficiency in backup operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define strategies, implement enhancements, and ensure the safety and integrity of mission-critical data across various platforms.

What You Will Do

• Utilize your experience to navigate and address complex or ambiguous situations.
• Offer consultation, training, and knowledge-sharing opportunities to team members.
• Lead automation initiatives using Ansible, Python, and PowerShell.
• Contribute significantly to the domain's body of knowledge.
• Design, deploy, and manage enterprise backup solutions, including tape, disk, and cloud-based systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex backup failures, ensuring data recoverability and minimal downtime.
• Monitor backup performance, analyze trends, and optimize processes for efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with internal standards, contractual obligations, and industry regulations.
• Develop automation and reporting solutions using multiple scripting languages.

What You Will Need

• Minimum 11 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years with a Master's; or 5 years with a PhD.
• 4+ years of experience in Linux administration (RHEL or similar).
• Strong scripting skills in Python, as well as proficiency in Bash, PowerShell, and SQL.
• Demonstrated experience managing and modernizing enterprise backup environments.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience in enterprise-scale modernization, migration, and optimization projects.

Preferred

• Familiarity with Rubrik, NetBackup, and Commvault backup platforms in mixed Windows/Linux environments.
• Experience with backup analytics and custom reporting/scripting.
• Understanding of the competitive landscape from both business and technical perspectives.

Compensation

As of the date of this posting, the estimated pay scale for this role ranges from $105,000 to $150,000 annually based on a full-time schedule. Placement in this range may vary based on various factors such as skills, experience, internal equity, and business needs. Additional compensation programs, based on eligibility, may include an annual bonus plan and an equity grant under our Associate Equity Appreciation Program.
