The Lead Cloud Engineer for Data Solutions is a pivotal technical leader responsible for defining, advancing, and governing enterprise data platforms while ensuring they are scalable, secure, and reliable.
This role involves collaboration with both business and technology stakeholders in the development and delivery of comprehensive application technology products and services that align with the organization’s strategic goals.
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Define the architecture of enterprise data platforms across various cloud providers.
- Author and promote whitepapers and position papers outlining principles and strategies for data platforms at Elevance Health.
- Design scalable cloud solutions to host data platforms including lakehouses, warehouses, and streaming services.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, and Information Security to establish standards and models for data architecture.
- Design automation platforms that support cloud data architectures.
- Drive the adoption of modern data architectures such as data mesh and data fabric.
- Define frameworks for data governance, quality, lineage, and compliance.
- Partner with engineering teams to deliver efficient data pipelines and platforms.
- Evaluate and implement data technologies like Databricks and Snowflake.
- Work with stakeholders to develop the overall applications architecture vision and ensure components are effectively designed in a multi-product environment.
- Recommend new technology solutions and ensure their delivery aligns with enterprise strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define clear business requirements.
- Oversee the creation and delivery of technical and functional specifications.
- Lead technical design reviews and testing to ensure application solutions meet business needs.
- Provide continuous consulting services and direction on projects.
- Champion established architectural standards, guidelines, and frameworks.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders to define architectures for new strategic initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field and a minimum of 11 years of experience; expert-level experience with business and technical applications is essential; or any combination of education and experience that provides an equivalent background.
Preferred Skills, Experiences and Competencies:
- Hands-on experience with AI tooling, IDEs, and services.
- Expertise in distributed data systems and platforms.
- Experience with various cloud data platforms.
- Strong understanding of data modeling and warehousing.
- Experience working in regulated environments (HIPAA, HITRUST).
- Ability to work effectively with executives and their teams in a matrixed environment to deliver value and drive change.
- Experience with healthcare data domains is a plus.
- Experience with big data technologies such as Spark and Databricks.
- Experience with streaming platforms like Kafka and Kinesis.
- Familiarity with modern architectures including lakehouses and data mesh.
