About the Engagement

Akkodis is seeking an experienced Data Architect to support enterprise-level data architecture initiatives within a large and complex public-sector environment. This role will be responsible for designing, planning, implementing, and supporting enterprise data solutions that align with organizational business capabilities and strategic objectives. The Data Architect will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, and technical teams to define and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing data architecture frameworks. The role also includes developing governance standards, supporting risk management activities, and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles and best practices.

Scope

• Design and implement enterprise-level database architectures and data models
• Develop and maintain documentation for enterprise data solutions and architecture frameworks
• Align data architecture with enterprise architecture principles, standards, and policies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data solutions support business capabilities
• Conduct threat and risk assessments and provide mitigation strategies
• Support governance, compliance, and best practices for data management across the organization

Assignment Deliverables

• Enterprise database architecture designs and implementation plans
• Comprehensive documentation of data models and architecture standards
• Data governance and architecture alignment frameworks
• Risk assessment reports and mitigation recommendations
• Architecture models using recognized industry tools
• Stakeholder presentations and knowledge transfer documentation

Expertise Required

Must Have:

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field (must be included in resume)
• 8+ years of experience designing, planning, implementing, and supporting enterprise solution databases in large, complex environments
• 8+ years of experience documenting enterprise data solutions and architecture
• 8+ years of experience working with enterprise architecture principles, frameworks, and best practices
• 8+ years of experience as a Data Architect in enterprise IT environments comparable in size and complexity to the Government of Alberta

Nice to Have:

• TOGAF certification (must be included in resume if applicable)
• 5+ years of experience designing enterprise data architecture strategies aligning business capabilities with data and technology
• 3+ years of experience conducting threat and risk assessments and providing recommendations to senior leadership
• 2+ years of experience using architecture modeling tools such as PowerDesigner, ER Studio, Erwin, BPwin, or Rational Rose
• 3+ years of experience managing application development projects using Agile methodologies
• 5+ years of experience with enterprise business intelligence tools such as Microsoft Power BI
• Proven ability to provide leadership, planning, estimation, and stakeholder presentations
