Principal Data Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and implementation of a data mart sourced from CRM to support Power BI initiatives.
• Define and implement star schemas along with relational database structures.
• Design and build robust ETL processes and data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric and associated services.
• Establish and uphold best practices for data architecture and engineering.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Deliver hands-on coding while mentoring team members on modern data engineering practices.
• Prepare the groundwork for an enterprise data warehouse and develop a strategic roadmap for future projects.

Experience Requirements

• Extensive experience with Microsoft data technologies including Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and Synapse.
• Over 10 years of expertise in star schema design and relational modeling.
• At least 8 years of experience in designing and operating ETL processes and production data pipelines.
• Proficient in integrating datasets for Power BI and applying visualization-aligned data modeling techniques.
• Strong capability to lead projects independently from inception through to delivery.
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with both business and technical teams.
• Familiarity with concepts of data lake and data warehousing including SQL, Delta, and Parquet.
• Experience with Databricks is preferred.
• Understanding of CRM systems and sales data structures is advantageous.
• Knowledge of financial data modeling as well as securities, instruments, and portfolios is preferred.
• Ability to work remotely aligning with East Coast business hours.
