What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, validate, and document molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) products in compliance with product requirements, industry standards, and regulatory certifications.
  • Serve as design owner for assigned MCCB product lines, maintaining design margin and engineering integrity from concept through end of life.
  • Lead new product development initiatives and drive performance, quality, reliability, and cost improvements for existing products.
  • Validate design concepts using engineering analysis, modeling, simulation, and laboratory testing to confirm functionality, robustness, and required performance margins.
  • Support product launch and manufacturing readiness, including production line support and resolution of early-life issues.
  • Coordinate third-party certification testing; investigate failures or nonconformances and support design updates and revalidation as required.
  • Identify and resolve design, quality, yield, and application issues using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives (VA/VE), minor design changes, and supplier or component updates, including required validation activities.
  • Define verification methods, control plans, and critical-to-quality (CTQ) characteristics for assigned designs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and project teams; provide technical input and clear status updates to engineers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical or electromechanical component/product design.
  • Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience using engineering tools such as Pro/Engineer Creo (or similar CAD), Excel, and basic analysis or simulation tools.
  • Experience working with cross-functional or global engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Experience with circuit breaker products and applicable standards preferred; related electromechanical product experience with ability to quickly learn new technologies and standards is acceptable.

Skills

  • Exposure to development, manufacturing, or testing of industrial or electromechanical products.
  • Familiarity with product safety standards or regulatory requirements (UL, IEC, CSA, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of quality or statistical tools (e.g., basic Six Sigma concepts, SPC, FMEA).
  • Expertise in mechanical and electromechanical design, with strong knowledge of electrical fundamentals and system-level interactions.
  • Ability to translate high-level product and performance requirements into robust, producible component and subsystem designs with minimal oversight.
  • Proficiency in Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), including CTQ definition, tolerance and variation reduction, and data-driven design trade-off decisions.
  • Strong risk management and structured problem-solving capabilities, including expert use of FMEA/DFMEA and related tools to proactively identify, prioritize, and mitigate design, quality, reliability, and safety risks.
  • Comprehensive understanding of design for manufacturability, quality, reliability, and cost, with ability to influence design decisions across the full product lifecycle.
  • Hands-on laboratory, validation, and failure testing experience, with commitment to safe work practices and compliant test execution.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience leading failure investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
  • Effective time and priority management skills, with ability to independently balance multiple complex workstreams and commitments.
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills, with ability to collaborate, influence, and provide technical guidance within cross-functional and global teams.
  • Demonstrated adaptability, curiosity, and initiative in a continuous improvement and learning-focused engineering environment.
