Lead Embedded Software Engineer (Sensor Fusion / EKF) – RFP Teaming Partnership

lutFORGE ENGINEERING

Remote · India Contract Lead Today

About the role

About the Opportunity

I am a Principal FPGA Architect putting together a bid for a complex, aerospace-grade avionics firmware development contract. The target hardware is a high-performance SoC. The system requires integrating an aerospace-grade IMU , legacy avionics communication interfaces, and computing complex 6-DOF state estimation.

I have the Programmable Logic (PL) architecture and hardware interfaces completely locked down. I am looking for a heavy-hitting Processing System (PS) and Sensor Fusion expert to partner with me on the software side.

The Arrangement

Let’s shoot straight: we are teaming up to win this bid. Your initial role will be collaborating with me to draft the software, IMU fusion, and EKF architecture sections of the Technical Proposal on a sweat-equity basis (with your name as the proposed engineer responsible). When we win the contract, you will be officially brought on as the Lead PS Engineer for the duration of the project, with a dedicated split of the contract budget.

What You’ll Do (Post-Award)

  • Implement an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) in bare-metal C99 or FreeRTOS.
  • Fuse high-rate IMU data with external position/attitude measurements.
  • Develop pre-processing libraries for sensor bias removal, temperature compensation, and angular integration.
  • Write highly optimized software to ensure predict and update cycles execute with strict millisecond latency constraints on an ARM-based application processing unit.
  • Ensure all embedded C code achieves strict MISRA-C:2012 advisory compliance, backed by static analysis.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Deep mathematical expertise in Sensor Fusion, specifically analytically computing Jacobians and tuning Extended Kalman Filters (EKF).
  • Fluency in bare-metal C99 and lightweight embedded linear algebra libraries (e.g., CMSIS-DSP) with no external OS dependencies.
  • Proven experience writing aerospace/avionics compliant code and passing MISRA-C static analysis.
  • The entrepreneurial drive to partner on a high-stakes proposal to secure a lucrative, cutting-edge hardware contract.
