Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office

Role Summary

The Lead Engineer / Team Lead is responsible for providing technical leadership and driving delivery within a product engineering team. This role combines hands‑on engineering with team leadership, ensuring the team delivers reliable, maintainable, and scalable software while operating effectively within the broader engineering organisation.

The Lead Engineer works closely with the Product Owner and Delivery Manager to ensure successful product delivery while maintaining strong engineering standards, technical quality, and team performance.

Required Skills and Experience

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong hands‑on experience with Python and .NET (C#)
• Experience leading engineering teams or acting as a technical lead
• Strong understanding of software architecture and system design
• Experience delivering software within Agile product teams

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical leadership and direction for the engineering team
• Design and implement backend services using Python and .NET (C#)
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design decisions
• Ensure engineering standards and best practices are consistently applied within the team
• Lead and support engineers through mentoring and technical guidance
• Conduct code reviews and maintain engineering quality standards
• Support performance feedback and capability development for team members

Delivery Ownership

• Work with the Delivery Manager and Product Owner to plan and deliver product features
• Ensure technical work is clearly understood, estimated accurately, and delivered effectively
• Identify technical risks early and implement mitigation strategies
• Encourage effective use of AI‑assisted development practices within the team
• Validate AI‑assisted outputs to meet engineering quality standards
• Promote responsible and productive use of AI within engineering workflows
• Collaborate with QA, UX, DevEx, and Architecture capabilities
• Align engineering work with organisational engineering standards and practices
• Contribute to cross‑team engineering initiatives and improvements

Nice to Have

• Experience with React
• Experience building full‑stack applications
• Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
• Experience operating and supporting production systems at scale
• Strong technical leadership and sound engineering judgement
• Team mentorship and capability development
• Strong collaboration across product and engineering functions
