Lead Engineer – Customer Application Engineering

The Lead Engineer – Customer Application Engineering plays a key role in developing competitive, high‑quality technical solutions that meet customer and market needs. This position provides technical leadership across the pre‑order (pre‑ITO), tendering, and execution phases, working closely with commercial and cross‑functional teams to support winning bids and successful project delivery. The role combines deep technical expertise, customer focus, and sound engineering judgment, with opportunities to influence best practices, quality standards, and solution strategies on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise during the pre‑ITO (requisition) and ITO phases, supporting bid development in close collaboration with commercial teams
• Analyze customer technical and commercial requirements and translate them into optimized engineering solutions, including product configuration, scope definition, schedules, industrial schemes, and cost estimates
• Perform technical calculations and analyses related to plant, system, and equipment performance, efficiency, and economics
• Develop and document technical specifications, performance assumptions, and costing elements to support contract execution and downstream engineering activities
• Support order‑to‑remittance (OTR) activities by customizing products and solutions to meet specific customer and project requirements
• Apply in‑depth market and application knowledge to strengthen value propositions and support competitive bid strategies
• Serve as a technical reference and quality resource within the discipline, continuously building specialized knowledge and staying informed on the latest technical developments
• Contribute to the development and application of best practices, technical standards, and engineering policies within the area of responsibility
• Use engineering judgment and data analysis to solve moderately complex technical, operational, or product challenges and recommend effective solutions
• Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, technology, and commercial functions, using multiple internal and selected external information sources
• Act as a mentor and technical resource for less experienced engineers; may lead small to medium projects with moderate risk and complexity
• Communicate complex or sensitive technical topics clearly and effectively, building alignment and consensus with internal and external stakeholders

Required Qualifications

• Significant experience in Engineering, Technology, or Customer Application Engineering roles
• Strong technical background with the ability to develop, evaluate, and optimize engineered solutions
• Education level comparable to a Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or a high school diploma with extensive relevant experience
• Fluent in English
